| |  | Career Build | Carole Craggs works in the recruitment field, and through the course of business she
recognized that South African youth, specifically those from disadvantaged backgrounds,
are unprepared to enter the labour market. She brought together a team of
professionals to address the issue. Mzansi CareerBuild Advisory Services, a Section 21
company was formed and has designed a mentorship programme that empowers
CareerBuilders (young adults between 17 and 25) to discover their God given purpose,
talents and abilities. CareerBuild has successfully run 6 mentorship programmes in Alex
and 3 in Braamfontein. The CareerBuilders have included ex-street children, alcoholics,
HIV positive young adults, learners from township schools and school leavers with and
without matric.
The team is currently piloting a 10 week CareerBuild School programme in a rural
school, Hazyview Comprehensive. The school offers technical subjects and the learners
are 100% black, from the surrounding rural area. It is situated between Hazyview and
